Theme Management

Applies to: Codeless

Overview

A theme controls how your website looks — colors, fonts, layout, and header/footer design. On Codeless, you install and switch themes per environment from Themes in the sidebar, often using packs from the Theme Marketplace.

Key concepts

  • Active theme — the design visitors see on the public site right now.
  • Theme Marketplace — a catalog of ready-made designs you can install with clicks (some packs cost credits).
  • Site template — the starter recipe chosen at project creation (Starter, Byte, Haven) which may limit which marketplace swaps are supported.
  • Clear caches — refreshes stored pages after a theme change so you see updates immediately.

Prerequisites

  • Codeless project with environment ready.
  • Credits if the marketplace card shows a price.

Steps — browse themes

  1. Open Environments, select an environment, then Themes.
  2. Review the active theme at the top.
  3. Scroll marketplace cards for previews and compatibility notes.

Steps — install or switch

  1. Click Install on a marketplace theme, or Set as default if already installed.
  2. Confirm any credit charge shown on the card.
  3. Wait for deployment to finish (status on Overview).
  4. Open Quick Login or the public URL to verify home and key landing pages.
  5. If styles look stale, Clear caches on environment Overview.

Site template defaults

  • Starter — default Mercury theme; marketplace swap usually encouraged.
  • Byte / Haven — bundled designs matched to SaaS or community layouts; marketplace swap may be limited.

Not available on FlexLab

FlexLab manages design in Git, not the dashboard Themes screen. See Why Theme Marketplace Is Not Available in the FlexLab book.

Common mistakes

  • Installing a heavy theme on a small dev environment — tune Build Settings on production before launch.
  • Forgetting to check mobile layout after switching themes.
